The English language really is complex
Its set of rules
Confuse and vex

Hiccough doesn't rhyme with dough
And how debt came to rhyme with threat
I'll never know!

I before E except after C
Is almost useless
I'm sure you agree

Two Ts in written but one in writing
And using apostrophes
Is truly frightening

I've spoken English all my life
And yet barely go a day
Without spelling strife!

So with raised hat and praises sung
I applaud those for whom
English is a second tongue

It's a very tough language to learn I did a TEFL course a couple of years ago made me realise what little I really know and I've spoken it all my life! 💞

@brownowl2012 my partner got a job in Egypt so that's why I did the course so I could teach English out there, but there are a lot of opportunities to travel abroad once you have the diploma ☺
