The Web Pt.1

The spider could see me now, I knew it could. I could feel its eight beady black eyes fixed on me. I daren't move through fear of bringing it closer. It was huge, four maybe five foot wide and at least half again tall. Its long striped body caught the morning light and a foot long sting on its lower abdomen shone menacingly. The spider was moving now, slowly but surely picking its way along the thick sticky strands of web. I desperately wanted to look somewhere else, at something else, anywhere but at the spider. Slowly I twisted my head remembering the pain this had brought last time as the strands of web had yanked my head back into place. This time however they relented and I moved my head round to the right. This wasn't much better, all I could see now was mile upon mile of thick silvery web and there, in the distance, the trap door I had entered through all those long hours ago....
