...I could almost hear the spider breathing now, it was so close. I tried to think of happy joyful times so that at least I wouldn't die in distress but none came. All I could think of were the long dark hours I had spent here, alone, waiting for the end to come . Flash backs now filled my head of the long and terrible journey, held high above the spiders head as it carried me to its larder. I almost wished it had just killed me on sight but it was like it knew that was what I wanted and was enjoying torturing me instead. I focussed back on the spider which was edging ever closer, not in a cautious way but as if considering me. Suddenly it stretched out one of its legs and placed it above my head...
