"Stay Away From The Shadows"
Cranston City,
Rhode Island
1949
Marcus Blair held out one trembling hand, as he lay on his death bed. Struggling to fill his lungs with oxygen. Air hissing from between his teeth, from his charcoaled lungs, as he barely managed to pull his son, Daniel, too him. Frail hands, shaky and cold wrapped around Daniel's throat. Marcus' cold almost colorless eyes in panic, Daniel knew it wouldn't be long and he braced himself for the goodbye. The only goodbye he'd never regret. His father and the Asylum his blood.
"Daniel, listen to me years ago I commited a crime far worse than anything you've ever seen, far worse than Maxwell's project Daniel, or your project. Far bigger than us, I made a deal and once I die, they come for you. The man in the shadows, stay away from the shadows Daniel. They live & feed off the darkness. Daniel you need too tell..." His raspy whispers cut off as he clutched his chest, Daniel gently laid him in his bed, in terror screams, "Father, I must what? Father what did you do? Please father?" He pleaed. Ever so slowly he could see the already dim light fade from Marcus Blair's eyes, as he drew his last breath, Daniel put his head in hands and began to mourn.
Resting his now shaking fingertips over his father's cold lifeless eye lids, with a motion of the hand, closing them and resting gold coins on each eye lid. Superstitous as the Blair family is, not only was it to keep his eyes closed, Daniel believed his father would need to the coins to pay the reapers fee to pass onto the other side. Rather than left in the banks of the other worlds sea, this way Daniel could be at peace with himself. "Goodbye..." He managed to whisper. Glassy eyed, he blew out the candle and took a deep breath & went to find Andrew Maxwell, the mortican of Amity Asylum. Too help Daniel lay his fathers body to rest in the ossuary with the remains of the hospitals victims bones. In the mean time he'd need to find a Doctor to run to the institution by his twisted orders...
