"How are you Maddison?" the Doc asked her, stopping at the edge of the Fog so that she was unable to seem him. They had played this game for many weeks now, and every time she had tried to find out who he was, he had disappeared in a flash of light. So she had given up and stopped chasing him. He had no answers for her, just more questions and uncomfortable silences.
"The same way I was yesterday, I'm foggy" Maddison replied with a bored inflection. She was tired of the same routine day in, day out and though she had searched for an out, there seemed to be no freedom through the fog.
Doc stood there and watched her, as if mentally noting details about her. She didn't need a mirror to know she hadn't changed, she could feel it in her body. She was never hungry, tired or sleepy, it was almost as if her body was frozen in time. Her nails didn't grow and neither did her hair but her anger grew. Maddison was angry at Doc for hiding the truth from her. She was angry at the fog for keeping her here. She was angry at herself for not listening to Ethan. He would have known what to do, he'd been her rock and without him here she was at a loss.
"What are you thinking about Maddison?" Doc asked her, clearly wondering why wasn't bothering him with questions today.
"Nothing but the fog Doc" she answered, looking into the stretch of grey haze with contempt. She had tried to run, walk and eventually crawl her way to an escape but there never seemed to be an out.
"Tell me about Ethan" Doc said, his words cold and robotic.
"Nothing to say that I haven't said before. So why don't you just leave me alone?!" She shouted back at him, her voice choking with emotion. Thinking about Ethan was hard enough but to talk about him to someone like Doc would just diminish his true value to her. He was worth more than that.
"Fine, have it your way. The only way out is to co-operate with me and looks like you'll be here for a long time at this point" Doc sneered at her. With a flash of light he was gone, as suddenly as he appeared.
Maddison felt nothing at his threat, he couldn't harm her here. She'd figured that out when she had tried to hit him once and his body had misted away. Therefore he could only mentally torment her and as long as she kept her guards up, he would never win.
Maddison hugged herself as the fog more closer around her. As much as she hated it, it was a constant that she had got used to. As she let herself remember Ethan, she wished she had enjoyed made the most of their time together that fateful day.

"Maddie, I'm kinda hungry" Ethan moaned next to her ear. She smiled as she snuggled closer to him, feeling content with the warm sun upon them and with Ethan's arms around her.
"Keep doing that and I'll be hungry for something else" Ethan whispered into her, his warm breath causing her to shiver. She giggled as he rolled her over to face him, his body stretched out above hers. As he leaned on his arms to keep his full weight off her, she used the position to her advantage by leaning up and placing a soft kiss on his lips.
"Food first, then something else later" she conceded to him with a small smile. As his dark brown hair fell over his eyes, he smiled at her before moving his thigh against her. As he leaned down to kiss her neck, Maddison was sure she had never felt this wanted or treasured before. Ethan cared about her in a way that had never seemed possible and she gloried in it.
"Hey stop trying to turn me on, I thought you were hungry for food" she sighed as Ethan nibbled on her ear.
"Well how about I eat you?" he murmured into her ear before pulling back to look at her. His obvious intent was written clear into his face as he gave her a sly grin.
"Ethan Scott!" She cried out in a stern voice, watching as his face dropped at her sudden change. "You're bad" she continued in a stage whisper before bursting into giggles. Ethan growled before tickling her until she begged him to stop.
As they laid there, breathless and hungry, neither would have ever known the change that would have come their way.
