Once upon a time,
In a far away land,
A blown-glass heart
Lay upon the sand,
And the waves rubbed it raw,
upon the shingle-stones,
until it broke in half,
And shattered all its bones.
But then a girl, she saw it,
And scooped it from the foam,
Then put it in her pocket,
And she took it home,
She glued it back together,
and polished out the cracks,
And the heart was ever thankful,
That the sea never got it back.
