I may have been wrong about the drinks and a catch up. The figure that stepped out of the cabin was a woman of whom I knew very well. There was a long silence when I came into the cabin and then conversation exploded. It was the girl I had been chasing my whole life. I had hunted her across the globe and got nowhere, and by accident we're sitting talking to each other. A glass of wine in her hands and a tumbler of whiskey in mine next to an open fire. Our conversation climaxed with her asking "what brings you here Nick". I couldn't think of a smart comeback so I just said "You". Business took hold and she explained the situation. How the envelope had nothing in. The keyring had great importance though apparently, so I pushed the conversation in that direction. She began explaining the job, and while she did this I began to take in my surroundings for the first time. She mesmerises me so much I forgot my most basic trainings. But I guess that's why I hunted her for so long... I brought my mind back into focus - The cabin. It had a sickly sweet smell which I couldn't identify. The interior was very militarily styled, giving me bad memories of times gone by. A gentle current circulated in the room, the temperature rising and falling constantly by about a degree. It was unbearable, the stone wall man must have researched how to make me uncomfortable. I transported to my happy place. An overhanging pine deposited a needle onto the lake and ripples gently curled their ways across. I breathed in as Valentina concluded her speech. "Consider it done" I whispered. This might take some thinking through.
