My Old Age

She sits in the corner of the old folks home
No one to talk to no one to phone

He vists every day, every week
But her future now looks comparatively bleak

She thought they'd still be holding hands
Not reduced to rubber gloves and an old bed pan

His beautiful wife no longer herself
Reduced to a child,by her old bookshelf

Her incredible mind went a long time ago
He didn't want to let his sweetheart go

He did his best, he did what he could
But was reduced to anger at a life no longer good

His lover and friend for many many years
Now unrecognisable but for her shocking blue tears

She used to joke and laugh that if one day
To lose her marbles she would shout a daily profanity

So here she sits all cosy and snug
Her word of the day is to shout butt plug!

He can't help laugh when he enters the room
Tears of a memory gone all too soon.

@naaviie. This is what I imagine my elderly years. Lol

Why would you imagine that for yourself?!

Beautifully written, & so sad 😔

Awe no that's such a shame! 😔 well written though!!

That doesn't mean it's inevitable. Take good care of yourself! 😘.

@ckahn thank you. Don't worry I do - I'm quite a way off that I think anyway. 🙏

@Fly10 thanks for the repost. When re read it I suppose it is sad but it was actually looking at it from a comical side. 😔

Phew!
