Driving on the road to oblivion,
The horizon is aflame.
My surrounding world is silhouetted,
The night puts day to shame.
The sky is awash with fire,
Red and amber hues;
Headlights dazzle my eyes,
Trees bare like ink tattoos.
Empty homes awaken,
With every switch of a light;
Windows fill with life,
As day becomes night.
The atmosphere illuminates,
Creating such ambient light;
As life awakens in the undergrowth,
For this is my twilight.
