I recall one enchanted twilight evening,
The stars burning bright,
The moonlight gleaming.
I recall dancing, dancing, dancing
Until the noiseless midnight passed without a care,
His piercing eyes fell upon me
And my heart was shattered beyond repair.
Amorous and glowing,
Ball gowns flowing,
He untangled himself from her and came towards me.
Could it be true?
My face turned blue.
I must go free
But his eyes transfixed me.
An arm about my waist,
A whisper made in haste.
The intoxicating bliss,
A dewdrop kiss.
The clock struck.
Then it was over.
My midnight fantasy,
My lucky clover.
The morning sunlight gleam.
I awoke with a start.
Was it nothing but a dream?
