Chapter 10

"Emma. It's okay. Stop your worrying. He is probably not that mad," I tell myself.
I'm freaking out. I don't know why Josh wants me down here, but what if he is mad. Mad at me for not replying to his texts or just doesn't want to be my friend anymore. My eyes water at the thought of him not wanting to be my friend anymore. I stand in front of the stream trying to think of possibilities on what may happen. I take a deep breath and then jump. I walk to the back of the woods and notice that Josh is already there. I watch him as he skips rocks into the water. I quietly start to walk over.
"Hey," I say as I go over.
He jumps and almost falls into the water.
"Don't scare me like that," he says as he laughs.
I laugh too. I go up and take a seat next to him.
"So why'd you need me up here?" I ask him with a little worry in my voice.
"Well, I just wanted to say that Im sorry for ignoring you. Can you forgive me?"
"Of course!"
Not really, I just don't want to be mean. I don't think that he understands how much I hate Cassie.
"Thanks. Me and Cassie were friends for a long time and she does a lot for me, so I think that I should repay her."
"I understand."
I actually don't understand. She is so mean to everyone. I don't know if he realizes that.
"Anyways, I was going to have a party this Friday, wanna come?"
"Sure. It would give me an opportunity to make new friends."
"Yeah. I can introduce you to some people."
"Oh. Yeah, we'll you don't have to."
"I'm definitely going to now. It's from eight o'clock to whatever time you leave."
"I'll be there."
We sit and watch the water until someone shouts Joshes name.
"Josh!! It's dinner time!"
"I better get going," he says
"Okay. Bye," I say a bit disappointed.
He gets up and leaves. I sit there for a while longer. I think about Josh. Should I tell him about Cassie, or would he get mad at me? He'll probably think that I'm a mean person and not want to be my friend anymore. My head is spinning around in circles. Whatever I do, I hope it's the right choice. I get up and walk home. What a long day.
