Chapter 20

At least I have some people to talk to because Josh obviously wouldn't talk to me with Cassie in the way.
"So Emma, are you any good at bowling?" Ashley asks.
"Sorta...."
"Oh, well, I'm terrible."
I laugh.
"Ryan is really good though."
"No I'm not."
"Yes you are!"
"Wait, you told her you were good but now your saying your bad?"
"Ohh, no. We went bowling together."
"Like, on a...date?"
"Yeah. Like on a date Emma." Ashley says giggling.
"So you guys are boyfriend and girlfriend?"
"Yeah we are," Ryan says as he looks at Ashley.
I look towards Ryan and nod my head. I could tell that they really liked each other when I first met them.
Connor looks over at me then smiles. He gets up and walks over. Oh God, why?! I don't even like Connor.
"Hey babe."
"Ohh, uh, hey Connor."
I can sense Cassie looking at me.
"And hey Ryan and Ashley," Connor adds in.
"Hi," they both say quietly.
"So babe I was..."
He is cuts off when his phone rings.
"Be right back babe. I gotta take this."
He walks off talking on his phone. Ashley and Ryan both look at me with a shocked face.
"You are dating Connor?!" Ashely says in disbelief.
"Yeah. Is that bad?"
"Well, yeah! Why would you even date him?"
"I didn't want to. I don't even like him. Also, how is it bad?"
"He sleeps with every girl he dates."
"Oh my gosh! How do you know?"
"I used to be his girlfriend."
"Oh."
I stare at the ground trying to clear my mind of everything.
Josh gets up and walks into the center of the section.
"Okay guys! All your names are entered in. We have ten people here, right?"
"Yeah."
"Okay and seven more people are coming to the movies with us. And guys, after the movie we will be going to my house. Ten people will be meeting us there."
That's twenty seven people. That's not nearly as many people at his other party, but that still is a lot of people.
"Okay, Matt, your first."
He rolls his bowling ball down and six pins fall.
That's pretty good.
He rolls one more time and gets three down.
He walks off. Next up Lizzy.
Connor is third on the list, Ryan fourth, Natalie fifth, Cassie sixth, me seventh, Ashely eighth, Josh ninth, and Nick tenth.
I watch Lizzy roll her first ball, but then I just don't bother to watch anymore.
Connor finally gets off the phone after ten minutes then comes back over.
"Sorry that took so long. It was just a cheerleader wanting to come over to my house tonight."
He winks at me.
I can imagine why she wanted to go over to his house.
"Okay..."
I look over at Ashley with a worried face. She looks over at me.
"Oh, yeah, uh, Emma. Do you want to go....um...grab..something...to..uh.......eat?"
"Well, I am hungry."
We both get up and walk down to the food counter.
"Thanks Ashley. You saved me."
"Anything for a friend."
When she said friend that made me smile.
