My eyes darted left and right, trying to place noises to places. He was to my left, a couple of feet away. His voice was beautiful and his laugh, delightful. I wish I could see him, but I couldn't. Why was I cursed with this?
The bell rung and I got out of my seat, I brought out my walking stick and started to walk. I avoided each obstacle and headed to my next class. I had to memorize each and every turn, hallway, classroom, and restroom. It was challenging but I could find my way around. My escort wasn't around today, she wanted to see if I could make it on my own.
I felt my way to my third and fourth period class. I was greeted by the friendliest woman ever, Mrs. Martinez. She said hello and lead me to a seat.
I could hear hushed voices all around me, talking about everyday things. But no one talked to me. I was used to the ignorance of others and thought of other things. I wondered what each of this people looked like. I wondered how I looked like.
'Hey Mari'
I turned to my left and said, 'Hi'
'I'm James'
'I know, I have you for most of my classes.' how could this be? Him talking to me?
He chuckled and replied 'yea. Um I was wondering if I could walk you to your classes.'
I felt my cheeks heat up, 'yea that would be great.'
'ok then'
James had noticed me. I was even more concerned with the way I looked. After class, he walked me to lunch.
'James?,' I asked.
'yes?'
I took a deep breath and asked, 'how do I look?'
He was quiet for a while and replied, 'Mari, I think you're the most beautiful girl in the world. Your eyes are amazing, your smile is stunning, and your heart is delicate.'
I smiled.
