Paul was unhappy as I listened to more music with Jason. He sat on a chair, twiddling his thumbs.
Then, suddenly, he jumped up and marched to stand next to me.
Jason started waving his arms again, mimicking the drums and bass of the song pumping from real actual speakers now.
When Jason turned his back for a second, Paul got my attention.
"Em," he whispered.
I looked at him.
He started to mock Jason's arm movements, putting on a maniacal expression.
I burst into giggles.
"Don't," I whispered.
He grinned at me.
But every time Jason would turn around, he'd do it, and look at my reaction.
Then, his smile disappeared.
"Well, have fun," he said. "I have to go to my bus."
"I'll come with you," I said. "I have to meet Sally at first floor lockers afterwards."
He smiled brightly, then.
I turned and waved goodbye to Jason, who waved half-heartedly back.
Then, the door closed, and Paul and I walked side by side.
"That was...interesting," Paul said, smirking. "Between Jason...and Tom sulking in a corner just because I was in the room. He needs to grow up."
I laughed. As we walked closer and closer to our bus, our laughter got louder and louder as we talked and talked. I didn't want us to ever get to his bus, but finally, we said goodbye.
And I went and worked out with Sally.
As we sat on the stationary bikes in the weight room after running half of a mile (which killed me), Sally showed me a picture she had taken of me on my phone, texting Paul and Heather.
"Gonna send this to Paul," she smirked. I looked at my ponytail and leggings and t-shirt...
"You better not," I warned, poking her arm.
I wiped at the sweat on my forehead, puffing my way through this workout.
"You know," Sally said slyly. "I...I invited Paul to work out with us sometime."
My phone that I'd been holding dropped from my hands.
"You did what?" I shrieked, bending down to pick up my phone.
She laughed. "Relax! He said he wasn't going to!"
I stopped and thought for a moment. Was it really that bad for him to come work out with us? Sure he'd see me sweaty and wheezing...but...we could spend time together. With the others, of course.
We finished our workout and went home. After my shower, Paul called. Perfect timing, of course.
I complained about how Sally worked me into the ground, and how tired I was.
Paul chuckled.
"Hmm..." He said. "Maybe...I'll come workout with you guys."
I gasped silently. "Uh, really?"
"Mm, I dunno," he replied, a smile in his voice. "Maybe."
"You could," I said. "It would be fun. Sally won't be able to work out with me once track starts. You could come."
"I'll think about it," Paul grinned.
"Okay..." I swallowed hard.
"What if we did work out together every day?" I thought. "That would be so..."
A smile stretched across my face.
"...cute!"

Writing is my life. Forever. I want to be an author when I grow up. I write all the time. When I'm happy, sad, angry...it's an escape. Oh, and I love green hearts. I absolutely love them.
