My mind said go back but my legs wouldn't listen
The rain had stopped and the raindrops glistened
What was this place and was it all real
Excitement built as I wondered what else it would reveal
I slowly walked into the trees where the beast had ran
How many were there? I was just one man!
I heard no noise,no animal sound
No birds in the trees and nothing to be found
I carried on walking for at least an hour through the trees
The air was thin and I dropped to my knees
Breathing was hard but I hadn't climbed
But the further I went the lighter my mind
Do I carry on further and risk passing out
Or head back to the beach and send for a scout
No,whatever was here I had to see for myself
Just breathe a little deeper and conserve my health
As I walked on,a dark shape appeared ahead
It was huge and black and it made me stop dead!
Ten times the size of any animal I'd ever seen
It's body was black but it's head was lime green
My pistol was no use against a beast of this size
It stared at me with six eyes like I was its prize
It walked towards me shaking the ground
I turned and ran as my heart started to pound
I turned to look as its eyes turned red
Then I felt heat burning into my head!
I dropped to the ground feeling burning and pain
Was this the end and were my discoveries in vain!
