The Knife Chapter 2

The cat (or what used to be her cat) was pinned to the ceiling by its ears. It's stomach dangled all the way to the bath. Blood dripped and dripped and dripped into the bath. It was a horrible sight and Alex's screams turned to uncontrollable sobbing.

Suddenly, Alex gathered her thoughts with the realisation that if the blood was still dripping, it meant that this disgusting butchery had only just happened. But who would do this? Mum certainly wouldn't have let anyone upstairs. Then she remembered her Mum was working today and she was alone or should have been.

Alex opened the bathroom door slowly, listening very carefully but the dripping blood in the bath was awfully loud. She threw a towel in the bath that softened the noise considerably.

She listened and waited. She was ready to slam the door shut and lock it at the slightest noise. Click, click, click. "what the hell is that" she thought to herself. It was coming from downstairs.

Slowly, Alex crept towards the stairs, listening and ready to run back to the relative safety of the lockable bathroom. Click, click, click. She wanted to shout down the stairs "hello, is anyone there?". But she resisted.

Suddenly, she realised that she was halfway down the stairs, the sound was getting louder, Click, click, click.

Alex slowly, very slowly, walked towards the kitchen. The door was slightly open. The only noises that she could hear was that infernal clicking sound and her own thumping heartbeat.

Alex slowly, very slowly opened the kitchen door. The Clicking was really loud now but not as loud as her screams at what lay before her...,,,
