Lilypaw's Mistake

(I doubt this is any good, I just wanted to do a fan fiction.)

Lilypaw darted after the rabbit, her patience fading faster than dew at sunhigh. She leaped over a log, clearing it easily and picking up her pace, brown leaves crunching underpaw.
"Lilypaw!" She heard her mentor, Greenberry, yowling for her. She ignored her, hunger driving her on. It was late leaf-fall and ThunderClan hadn't eaten properly in a moon.
Lilypaw felt her lungs screaming for air, but she kept running. She gasped as her paws slipped out from under her and she tumbled clumsily to the ground.
"Foxdung!" Lilypaw hissed, spitting dirt out. She watched the rabbit's white tail disappear into the dead undergrowth, disappointment poking at her. She stood up and shook out her creamy white fur, looking around for her mentor.
"Lilypaw!" Greenberry slowed as she came up to her apprentice. "Haven't I already taught you how to catch a rabbit?" she snapped. Greenberry was usually a gentle warrior, but hunger has given all her Clan a bad temper.
Lilypaw ducked her head. "Yes, Greenberry. I'm sorry. I'm just so hungry..." She trailed off, her gaze fixed on her white paws.
Greenberry's voice softened a little. "We're all hungry. But you have to be more careful." She turned. "Come on, let's get our other prey back to camp."
Lilypaw followed her mentor, her head hanging. 'Next time,' she thought determinedly. 'I'll make my Clan proud. Just not today.'
Lilypaw padded on, her head high, feeling a new strength inside of her... A warrior's strength.
