@eatonlynch Plagiarising

To all those concerned, 'number 2' rated user @eatonlynch has been continuously posting opusses that have been taken from other authors. He does not credit these authors, but rather pretends that he has written them himself.

Just a warning to those of you that may believe he is actually a good writer, like I did (foolishly admittedly...)

Please try to spread the word to show that this kind of behaviour, on here and anywhere in the world, is unacceptable.

I only ever see jokes from the kid whats the prob?

Not the jokes, the stories he posts claiming he wrote them. He even made a post after one telling all that he'd been up all night writing it... He's just treating this app as a game to get top ranking.

@iPuss he recently claimed to have 'stayed up all night' writing a story (that he had now removed) which @peterba discovered to have been circulating the Internet for at least 2 months now. It wouldn't bother me I he didn't claim that it was his own work

@harokaz I see. Well hes probably learnt his lesson.

@harokaz He only 11 :/

@harokaz He is only 11 after all. We all do stupid stuff. ๐Ÿ˜’

@iPuss hope so, I understand that he's young and that it probably was just an innocent mistake but it seems like common sense to not copy and paste another person's writing and claim its your own. Just frustrated me is all, have calmed a bit now!

@harokaz Ayeits not good but you only have to look at some kids now days and their parents raise em. ๐Ÿ˜’

@iPuss haha, well hopefully all is good now. Feel bad for possibly overreacting a bit now.

@harokaz Dont.... One thing opuss has taught me is always speak your mind. My friends on here have really opened up my life. โค

@iPuss very true, I think this also contributed to my aggregation, the fact that he wasn't speaking his mind but someone else's. There are so many fantastic writers on here writing meaningful, innovative and original content. It's made me a much more confident writer myself! Without doubt my favourite app

@harokaz Im addicted. You only have to read my stuff to know! :P

@iPuss I will do (currently writing my final essays before my graduation, will follow and have a read in a bit)

For the record, it was me that removed the offending work after it was brought to my attention. We don't tolerate plagiarism here but I think the he will hopefully learn a lesson and continue to write his own great stuff.

@Seamonster ah okay fair enough, impressive response time!

@Seamonster Your diligence never ceases to amaze and encourage :O)

@harokaz Eatonlynch goes my school and has been really sad for the last 2 weeks he only copied one story and 2 quotes and plus he is really kind and smart you should have given him a chance

@LIAM7 if he read the comments that I wrote then he would have known that I had no intention whatsoever to make him leave the app. The issue wasn't that he copied the story, it was that he claimed it was his (which is both lying and stealing). I really really didn't want him to leave as long as he posted things that he wrote himself. The whole point in this app is to get people who enjoy writing their own content to start sharing it with others and it's a really friendly environment for that kind of thing. But claiming that a story someone else has written is yours is not acceptable at all.

@LIAM7 I urge him to return to the app and show people what he can do creatively. If he doesn't want to write his own stuff then he is completely free to do that as long as he doesn't lie about where it is from. You can quote something but you have to say who said/wrote it and not claim it as your own. I would love to see some of his own writing, as this is what the app is for; encouraging writers of all kinds

@LIAM7 also if he doesn't want to join back again, tell him to join twitter. It is much better for the kind of thing he was doing and in many way encourages you to write jokes, quotes and stories that you haven't written yourself. Hope he gets happier but he has I understand that it wasn't a personal attack against him, rather against what he was doing. Please tell him I (and I'm sure the countless others who agreed with me) are very sorry for having hurt his feelings, but our only intention was to stop him doing something both against the law, and the purpose of this app

@harokaz I'll tell him and thanks but he told me regrets ever ever stealing that story he said he is soooo sorry I'll try to convince him to join twitter or opuss again but for now he is in my house watching T.v with my brother do you want to talk?

@LIAM7 just tell him that no one wanted him to leave, but they wanted him to stop the plagiarising. As long as he posts his own material and not others I'll be more than happy for him to come back. It all depends on hat his intentions are, of they are to put up jokes and quotes then this is probably not the right app for him and like I said twitter is much more appropriate for that stuff. If he has his own stories/poetry then definitely come back!

@harokaz (Eatonlynch talking) I'll join again and I promise I will not copy :)

@LIAM7 great stuff, look forward to reading some of your own stuff man
