A boy. At first, I didn't know what was so special about him, but when I looked closer I recognised him from somewhere...yes! A video I'd seen of a concert, from the first year of Baywood that I'd missed. I wondered why I'd never seen him in our classes before, we were in the same year. He bore black, messed-up hair that resembled a rock star just after a shower. "That's Roman Scott. No-one knows where he was last year, he just vanished." Lee whispered into my ear. "Apparently, his parents do drugs. Some say he's done some." He added. Everyone stared as he ignored them and walked in a straight line to an empty locker. He proceeded to open it and unload his books into it with the same withering distaste that I did. Gradually, people began talking again and he was forgotten. However, I was curious. Someone walked up behind him and began talking to him. I recognised him as Ollie Ravenwood, a boy in our special effects class. Henri was quite good friends with him. The other one, Roman, looked ill to me. Perhaps he had done drugs... "Laura!" Jo caught my attention back again. "What're you looking at?" She asked, glancing at Roman. "Nooooothin." I said. Unfortunately, the others had all been staring at him too. "Guys! I want your opinion. Should I take the lead role in a play coming up or a minor role in a b-list film?" Jo asked, holding up two scripts. "Uh huh." Lee said, backing away to his locker. "Yeah." Naomi nodded, skipping after him. "Sure." Avan nodded, holding up his sketch pad, supposedly to return to drawing our feet. "Okay." I shrugged, turning back to my locker. Henri said nothing, and had probably already had that question posed to him repeatedly. "Hi Henri." Ollie said, his hands in his pockets and a yellow baseball cap on his head. "Hey, Ollie." Henri said quietly. How he had a friend, considering he was that shy, nobody knew. "I see Roman's back." Avan said, lowering the sketchbook to just below his eyes. "Where'd he go?" He asked. I kept my back turned, but listened all the same. "Lots of legal trouble at home." Ollie shrugged. "You know what his parents are like. I don't think they let him out of the house!" He said. It was fortunate that everyone was playing/singing/rowdy-noise-making, as he said it incredibly loudly. "Jeez." Jo said. "Did he say that?" She asked. "Sort of. But seriously, he's so pale he could be dead." Ollie said. "Yeah. He looks really sick." Avan said. This conversation was interrupted by...her. Oceane Gates, the most unbelievable girl ever to be graced with the title 'bimbo.' "Oh, how lovely to see you all." She said, a large smile on her face, but a deep tone of sarcasm in her voice. She looked down, identified the target and spat a wad of gum onto my shoe. "Have a nice day!" She smiled, laughing and skipping to join her gang of hissy-fit cheerleader friends. "Ugh!" I whined, extracting my least favourite pencil from my bag and prising the gunk from my shoe, proceeding to throw the pencil and the gum into the trash can. Said bimbo was dating my ex, Darren, and had worked up a vendetta against me since the breakup. I had perfectly valid reasons, as he was cheating on me. With her. "Naaaasty." Avan commented, from behind his sketchbook. I think he'd added in the gum.
