HALLOWEEN BATS

It's the night of halloween, my friend
And ghouls are running wild
Feels like it might never end
Lets have fun, my child

Once I see the gang
Approach me from the tree
Step after step, bang after bang
I'm running to be free
Their eyes are set to kill
Their wings outstretched so wide
My bones are penetrated by the chill
Will I get home, this Halloween night?

I finally reach a dead end
I've nowhere left to go
They follow me around the bend
My world, it starts to slow
"Hello", they said
"We are the bats!
Tonight's the night of monsters.
Witches, pumpkins, and black cats!
Will all come haunt you."
"We will let you live!" they said,
"But it comes with a price.
If you wish to live, my friend,
It's one big sacrifice.
Heres quite a proposition,
Full of trouble and fright
Open your ears and get ready to listen,
On this cold halloween night."

I didn't want to die that night,
So i listened very well
Fear of the bats mighty bite,
Was my idea of hell
So I listened to the agreement
And it was one I agreed to take
So now I live, my dear friend
In the sky above the lake

With skin the colour of the night
And eyes all shining yellow
Enough to give you quite a fright
On a lonely night so mellow
So friends this halloween, keep your eyes wide open
Look for the bat flying high
The one behind this poem
Beware of me, in the sky
For I am quite a little bitter
I want to take you with me
To the night that makes teeth chitter
You will become one of us
As we fly the sky at night
Doing what every bat does
Gifting scares and frights

So beware of us, my friends
And hold on to your hat
For the curse will never end
If you wish to be a bat.
