The News

I saw the news today- oh boy.
More anti Islamic sentiments for me when I pick up the kids.
More eyes trying to see through my scarf, asking "do you support Qatada".

Although no one will ask me out loud. Because then I will have the chance to put forward my account.

My account of peace, of respecting all, my anti terrorism beliefs, my belief in fairness. That we ALL have a role to play.
My equal rights for women, educational achievement for girls. All the things the media would rather you not associate with me.

Because it's easier to believe the worst of me, not the best I can be.

I'm just putting it out there. Thank you for reading xx

Love to write all the time, my passion, therapy and stress relief. It may not mean much to everyone else, but to me the words are the threads which hold it all together! I'm mum to seven, full time carer to my physically disabled and autistic son, and I own and run my own business. So reading and writing is my serious stress reliever!

This is so true, I want to like and repost ten times, wish I could! ☺

So true. It's narrow mindedness. It's a cliche but just because there are a few bad apples doesn't make everyone the same. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ˜˜

Great message - if only people would open their minds a crack!

This is so true. People need to realise that the people who portray 'Islam' by blowing themselves up and terrorising aren't Muslims at all. Islam doesn't advocate extremism. The word itself means peace.

True ❀

It's a hard and complicated issue, but bottom line is we are all individuals that can not be tarred with another's brush, on all sides. It's for all communities to reject and condemn elements within them that shame them.

A great message very well said πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ’—

@waleedyazdani completely agree and I'm lucky to live in an area where our cross community coexist as neighbours. I believe the vast majority of 'people' realise that the suicide bomber type is such a minuscule % of the Muslim world that it doesn't merit being called a minority, however news creates fear and fear creates suspicion and news has to report events and unfortunately a high % suicide bombers claim to be Muslim.

@Burrfoot couldn't agree more. A classic example of what psychologists call availability heuristics. It is no doubt comforting to know not everyone hates Muslims because of the stigmas associated with them :-)

@waleedyazdani it's all perception my friend, some ignorant people on all sides, labelling the masses by the wrongdoings of the few. All the rest of us can do is get along and nurture our relations πŸ‘
