Like all the other films catered towards girls/women, Bridget Jones Diary is trying to say 'don't worry, stay where u are and do what u want, the prince will come on his white horse (or maybe, if uve got a good stroke of luck, there may be multiple princes )'
Falling in love is not that easy and 'love u for who u are' can't really be counted as a specific reason for liking someone.
