(From Ode to Melancholy)
This is Life
Sitting on the empty bone of Eternity
Listening to the cries of a desperate child
Bathing in its captive tears
Wishing you could set free what needs to be wild
This is life
Knowing that you are alone
Yet craving the sanity of a whispered lie
Stripping off the cloak of a sheltered world
Feeling the wrath of so many days that will not die
This is life
Missing the arms of the perfect man you'll never find
Falling in love with that perfect image
Missing out on that perfect love
Too blind to see the difference at any age
This is life
Spending forever searching for the answers
Yet forgetting the questions is the fate we all share
It's the difference we all make
And the reason that they stare
This is life
Waiting your whole life for that white picket fence
Faithfully pretending you don't care
Giving less than you would rather take, protecting your vulnerable heart
You learn the universal truth that nothing is ever fair
This is life

I have published a few single poems. 2012 I published my first poetry book, Ode to Melancholy. This is sold at www.blurb.com. It is a collection of the poetry I wrote as a teenager. I am currently working in my second book.
