I see a dog piss on a tree,
And in that tree I can see us smiling, you and me.
I see a bomb blast on the TV,
And in that crater I can see us hiding, you and me.
I can see tears of a relative left alone on New Year's Eve,
And in his clothes I can weave us darkly, you and me.
I can see pain, war, misery, and glory,
And in that battle I can see us saved, you and me.
I can see your God winking mercifully,
And in His eye I can see reflected, you and me
I can see life given so purposefully,
And it bleeds belief in you and me.
