I WALK WITH OMEGA

9
A select few in the world were prepared. Families of the highest tiers of society, all of which used this disaster to take positions of greater power and influence, substantially increased their wealth. The rest of us could only attempt to make and act out decisions fast enough so as to acquire some means of security, even if only to provide ourselves a false sense of it. That decision, no matter what it was, turned out to be a shield of false hope for the majority of the population. I witnessed folks in lines and at their banks, anxious to withdraw a currency that no longer had value. Lines formed at many places at first. Supermarkets, gas stations and financial institutions were the target locations for those of us that realized what had happened, to at least some degree.
You cannot purchase goods with a currency that has no value. This reality spread quick.

Inspired by several books that I've read, that I can't really remember the names of. "You can't do this!" The last words I spoke before they took me away. How wrong I was.

The Choice: Part Six

Back on the first day in this place I may have smiled, I know better now. Smiling is a waste of energy, and a waste of hope. We only smile now to hide the searing pain each breath causes.
