Inspired by several books that I've read, that I can't really remember the names of.
"You can't do this!"
The last words I spoke before they took me away. How wrong I was.
They tied me up and threw me in the van with the others. A dark tangled mess of limbs and screams, confused teens taken against their will. The world is living longer and they need youth to keep going. They need us.
A faint hissing noise and the screams subside, a thick gas smothering us, enveloping me in a sense of utter dread. The bodies around me become limp and lifeless and it is only a matter of seconds before I do the same.
The dim flickering of a neon light and a desperate scream awakes me, and I immediately regret it. The cage stinks of gas, chemicals and unwashed bodies. In the distance, every three minutes, there are a chorus of screams, followed by a deathly silence. Soon, I will meet my fate, along with the others in cage 34B6D8.
It all started when developed the 'cure'. They promised eternal life to the public, a world where people lived forever in peace and harmony. Of course, people when to buy it straight away, excited at the prospect of eternal youth. Literally everyone over 16 bought it, all across the world. Children and teens weren't allowed to take it, the government saying it 'would affect their health and wellbeing.'
Most parents accepted this, and continued to use the medication, watching their children grow old as they stayed young. Eventually, the children were old enough to use the tablets, and they did. The world kept spinning in a peaceful fashion, and the true secrets of the pills stayed hidden.
Even now, they still are. People don't know what's in them, all they know is that they keep them alive. They don't know how they are made, the ingredients, the torture, the deaths, involved in making these tablets.
Young cells. They extract them, bit by bit, slowly killing their victim. They steal teens off the streets, take them from their parents, for 'testing,' Said that they were developing a new 'cure' for children, that they needed all the under 16's to come and try it out. Parents, stupid ignorant parents, let them take us away, completely oblivious to our screams. We are the fuel. The fuel for this youthful world.
The cage rattles along the track, and metal sheets slide down and divide it into ten, one pod for each person. These pods each then take a separate path. Mine follows 'conveyor 34G6F7' I take a deep breath, and try to wriggle out of the metal shackles. No luck. The timer on the wall ticks loudly, reminding us all of our fate. 2 minutes 45 seconds. The time I have left to live.
I feel the pod stop and take a left turn. Glancing out of the small window, I see that I am now travelling down 'conveyor 35G6F7' 2 minutes 30 seconds.
The window closes over, leaving me trapped in a small metal box, hands tied to the ceiling and feet tied to the floor. 2 minutes 25 seconds.
A familiar hissing noise echoes throughout the box, but instead of dulling my senses, the gas brings them to life. Excruciating pain spikes up from my wrists as my new heightened senses exaggerate every single scratch on my body. 2 minutes 10 seconds.
The light that illuminated the box dies, so I am plunged into darkness. The pod continues to trundle along the conveyor belt as I await my fate. 2 minutes.
The pod stops and a hole opens up to the left of me, at about where my shoulder is. Though the hole comes a needle, to which I've no doubt is connected a collection machine. 1 minute 50 seconds.
The needles moves forward and I scream, desperately trying to shuffle away from it. Another hiss and my movements slow. The needle keeps moving. 1 minute 30 seconds.
The gas has slowed me down, and eventually the needle catches up with me. I scream as it enters my arm, piercing my flesh. 1 minute 20 seconds.
Soft music begins to play and I stick my tongue out at the walls of the box. I hate them. 1 minute 5 seconds.
The machine makes a beeping noise and the needle starts to do something. I know what is happening and I don't stop it. My time is almost up. 50 seconds.
The machine keeps beeping and the needle keeps extracting. Extracting my cells. To use them for some stupid 'cure' I feel limp and lifeless, slowly loosing the will to live. 40 seconds.
I cannot feel the left side of my body, and to be honest, I don't care. They can do what they wish now. I don't care. 25 seconds.
I've lost feeling in my legs and arms now. And my heart and soul. I despise these people, who kill young teens, just to regain their youth. 15 seconds.
My mind is filling with darkness now, and the only thing that comforts me is the fact that there are only several seconds left of this torture. Several seconds left on this earth.
5 seconds.
4 seconds.
3 seconds.
2 seconds.
1 second...
