Someone told me you died today
And it may have surprised you to hear I wept with no words to say
I know in our past we fought a grand war
Though hidden in mutual understanding were the reasons that we fought for
Pride, recognition, and our time in the light
The love, the girl, and a brighter future in sight
But sadly, my former fiend, there was no reason to put up the fight
Cause I'm still an average man, and you're a corpse tonight
We thought of each others as gods, but in fact we were human
And we fought for a lifetime, two old souls ruined
So as a payment of respect, I recognize those bitter days
And leave a red rose on your newly made grave
