Trouble Part 1

I was running faster then I thought, I saw a puddle which seemed miles away. I looked down then ran through the puddle. The canal was so close to me I knew if I lost my concentration I could fall in or trip but I knew he.... They would kill me so I kept running.
As I approached a boat I flicked my head around, they were catching up so I made a stupid decision to jump on the boat. I Didn't realise the distance between me and the boat in the darkness when I jumped Down and with a thud my ankle cracked. I wanted to scream and clench it but I didn't have time so I limped towards the door in pain. I pulled on the door and it opened instantly I heard them close so I jumped in. It was to dark to see anything but I clambered under a table closed my eyes and prayed as I heard there voices and then a thud, they were here.
