5 July 2012
My parents came around
For to have their tea
The 4th day of July
Is their anniversary
We sat around and chatted
As we always do
Their recent holiday and
What my sister's been up to
Then we served the dinner
Sausages and mash!
We like to keep it simple
No need to be flash
My mum got drunk on rose
Then after the food
My dad got on my drum kit...
He's really not that good
Dessert arrived; a trifle
An army it would feed
Contained four pints of jelly
A sweet tooth's treat indeed
Our evening was al fresco
A lovely balmy night
Our only worry was
If the midges were to bite
Eleven o'clock we wrapped it
Time to go to bed
With some (ahem) beers inside me
Subtle pounding in my head
Forty eight years married
They remember every one
Happy Anniversary
From your ever loving son
