Busker stood beneath the bridge
Playing a mournful tune
Didn't know where he'd sleep tonight
But it'd be by light of moon
He would play all thru the day
Beside him stood his dog
He thought there must be something more
Than this all weather slog
Busker, he would sing and play
He used to have a band
They were good, got famous
And they toured across the land
Busker started drinking
Amid the fame and lights
And backstage, drunken Busker
Would engage in pointless fights
Band found a replacement
In a singular heartbeat
And that is how our Busker
Found himself upon the street
Now sober but still playing
Near shops and outside bars
With just his dog for company
Sleeps beneath the stars
So next time you see Busker
And think this guy can play
50p from you and me
Is sometimes Busker's pay
