Sitting in his dressing room, Coco shed a tear For even with no make-up, no woman would come near See, Coco was the best of 'em, he stood proud and tall But when it came to loving, he'd had no luck at all He'd had a girlfriend years ago, but that was in the past And when he said he was a clown, their fate, it seemed, was cast He'd tried a dating service, they could only stand and stare For even minus clown's wig Coco had bright orange hair He bought a brand new outfit, thought he couldn't lose But Coco, he had clown's feet, and took size twenty shoes He tried a bunch of flowers, to charm a girl to bed But he'd got them from the circus; squirted water at her head And then one day an invite from a woman he admired Surely just an escort that a circus worker'd hired No, she was quite serious, she wasn't just insane For she had a penchant for a highly coloured mane So with this news and his new shoes, Coco felt so fine Could this be the girl for me? To finally call mine... He met her on a Wednesday, and couldn't believe his eyes She was a stunning beauty, Coco was hypnotised He said to her, "Good evening" and feeling very grand Opened his car door for her, and it came off in his hand She stood there laughing at this clown that she'd arranged to meet And she laughed even harder, when a HONK came from his feet
At least, he thought it was his feet...
He got into his jalopy and drove off from her flat And as far as clown love goes, that, my friends, was that
Sitting in his dressing room, Coco dried his tears All his attempts at romance confirmation of his fears He turned his back on love, he'd done all within his power It's back on with the greasepaint, got a show in half an hour So on your next trip to the circus, and the clowns are in the ring Just think of all the merriment these clumsy fools will bring And when you see old Coco and he's bringing down the place Remember that's not make-up, there's a tear upon his face
