Once there was a dancer
Cascading flame red hair
Suit jackets and leg warmers
She didn't seem to care
Dancer met a drummer
He would watch her shows
And when it came to practise
To rehearsal he would go
Every now and then
She would dance with drummers band
In several gigs small and big
All across the land
It was a joyous union
It seemed heaven sent
But just one night of passion
Was all they ever spent
She started working nightclubs
Drummer got upset
For it seemed there were too many
Fellas that she met
Drummer ended the affair
She came down one day
She tried a while, to reconcile
But he sent her away
Then dancer got restless
She wanted something more
Than just a Paso Doble
Across a dance floor
Dancer got an offer
She could not refuse
She gave up everything she had
To dance on ships that cruise
And what then, of the drummer
Lowly rhythmic prince
Have to say that from that day
I haven't seen her since
