Once upon a time
A goblin said to me
How would you like to sing, to write
All kinds of poetry
I will concoct a potion containing all you need
To be aspiring poet
On this you'll have to feed
Now to add some juices
As only goblin knows
Some vigour to your verses
Some punchy to your prose
But he said a warning
Before you get carried away
This gift from me is not for free
There is a price to pay
So I took the goblins potion
And drank it eagerly
Thought I'd better thank him
I turned but gone was he
Then I started writing
Songs and sonnets too
Poetry and limericks
And a fairy tale for you
But all too soon it ended
A misery engrained
All my feelings disappeared
All my emotion drained
Now there are no verses
No poetry to say
For goblins toll it was my soul
And now he's gone away
Now there is a moral to
This cautionary tale
Just sing and write with all your might
Ne'er give your soul for sale
