You're well and truly missing
Your rage has brought you here
Won't you look a little closer
When you've wiped away that tear
You're striking out at something
But you don't know what or why
You feel if you make contact
Your fears may pass you by
Too heavy is the burden
Too high the price to pay
Take your shot at me
If it'll help it go away
You're standing on the threshold
Of responsibility
Let it out and let it go
For the sake of sanity
You're the drunk bare knuckled fighter
That I once called my friend
But your cuts are running deep
When there's no title to defend
Are you finished? Are you spent?
For you've punched above your weight
Now there's nothing and you're empty
After years alone with hate
Too long in the wilderness
Has caused you to be lost
You may have forgotten
Your name's on my heart, embossed
So pluck my message from the wires
There'll be no questioning
The door's open, we can call it
A sort of homecoming
