Inspiration comes from many places
People I meet, the looks on their faces
Furtive glance, a secret smile
To lift and warm your heart for a while
A winning bet, result on the horses
Gourmet meal with a dozen courses
The human condition is something I find
Will stir up creations in my mind
Love and hate and death and life
The good and the bad, your husband, your wife
A place in London that nobody knows
Atmosphere's great and the tourists don't go
The cold of winter and a cracking fire
The title race going down to the wire
A beautiful tableau bathed in light
The ghostly pallor of darkest night
Words are a many splendoured thing
Who knows what inspiration tomorrow will bring?
