'Would you like to dance?'
I'm expecting 'No chance'
But you're still standing there
Thought you'd walk on
You haven't gone anywhere
The music is slow
Lights are low
Time to take your hand, and go
Out onto the floor
Nothing else
Matters anymore
We start to move
No need to rush
Nothing to prove
Except maybe to us
The mirrorball
Is throwing stars around the hall
In your eyes, in your hair
Everywhere
To hold you, feel you
I know you feel it too
Lost in the moment, the here and now
It's just a dance and yet somehow
It's become much more
Out on the floor
As the music ends
We part, we smile
You leave with your friends
And you're gone
But the spot on the floor
Where the mirrorball shone
Though empty, makes me smile
For I know, just for a while
What we shared
Was not publicly aired
For three minutes, we cared
I don't have your number
Or even your name
But we took our moment
And we lit it, created a flame
Took a chance
Two lost souls
Shared
A last dance
