Oh the untold dangers
Of a room that is full of strangers
I drink, to place the steel
Against this terror that I feel
Surely it can't be too hard
Chip at my shell, take a shard
Ah! Somebody I know!
You're already talking though...
I'll lead myself through all the rooms
Around each turn fresh horror looms
Friendly faces, airs and graces
I think of home and other places
I try again, I smile politely
She just ignores me, and quite rightly
I'll take another beer
For this irrational fear
And from the ashes of this epic fail
I'll blow and put wind in my sail
Only to fall from my horse
Tack and stray off my intended course
My final ploy. Yes, I know
Will anyone notice? No
I'd better go...
I was silly to think
I could conquer, with drink
The feeling of shyness inside
Seems again, to myself, I have lied
I curl up and I clam
What's outside is a sham
When inside
I nearly
died...
