To write a classic Christmas song?
I listen to the oldies
They've been around so long
'Now That's What I Call Christmas'
Is re-released each year
Brand new Crimbo wrapping
But the same old songs, I fear
Singers long retired or dead
God bless their families
Getting fatter than the goose
On the Christmas royalties
But I suppose I shouldn't moan
For I feel there's something wrong
When the X Factor's supplying
All the recent Christmas songs
And with all that in mind
Take it away, won't you Bing?
Dreaming of a White Christmas?
Wish I'd written the bloody thing
It's really rather comforting
That the oldies are still here
With nothing new for me and you
They'll be re-released next year...
