All of the Christmas tree decs Knew that the fairy would cry When she came out of her box To view Yuletide from up on high
She was the piece de resistance It was the same for many years All the presents and tree decorations Got soaked in fairy tears
They chose the brave tin soldier To climb up to the top And find out why the fairy cries And try to make her stop
A day in the life of this soldier Had taken a different turn He was prepared for anything Just not what he would learn...
He set out on his journey It would take him many nights At least his path was brightly lit By the twinkling fairy lights
He passed the red poinsettias And baubles green and gold The tree was a six footer With many branches to hold
He passed a Rudolph and a Santa And tree chocolates on his way And as the tree got thinner He knew he'd reach the top today
Sitting underneath the fairy Tin soldier's getting wet Rained on by fairy teardrops But he'd find the answer yet
As our hero then looked up He finally had the proof He'd realised why the fairy cries And here's the painful truth
As tin soldier looked upwards He could see up fairy's skirt And having seen how she was fastened He thought, 'Christ, that must have hurt...'
