The White Rabbit - Chapter 7

Chapter 7 - Bandages

There was a blindingly obvious bandage attached to my face the next day. Atleast it covoured up the wound in the side of my head.
"Hey Alice, did you hear about the girl last night? The one who was killed?" said Emily. I was too tired to respond so I just nodded along. "I was worried Alice. I thaught it was you"
"What!?" now I was listing. She handed me a newspaper and on the front covour was a clear as ink, black and white picture of a girl in pieces. She had long dark hair, slim face, green eyes, and her face was in shock. She looked Just like me. SHE was the second victim. I was rather uninterested by the first girl but now she interested me significantly. The news hadn't particularly touched it but there was a victim about a week ago. Long dark hair, slender. What made this so significant was the blindingly obvious link.
Both these girls look very similar. What was shocking is that they looked ME. Buy What was most shocking was the way they'd been slaughtered. There was a gaping hole in both chests. A hollow, empty, heartless frame. I handed the newspaper back to Emily and sighed. I'm not cut out for this. She looked at me blankly and said "well?"
"what?" I asked.
"will you help me catch this guy?"
"oh" I must've not been listing. My mind was fixed on yesterdays encounter. I could'nt draw my mind away from him. "I don't know Emily. He seems pretty dangerous. You could get yourself killed."
"don't worry" she said "Mark'll look after me".
Thinking never really was her strongest attribute. But she did have a point, If these murders really are linked, then i'm in big trouble.
