Powerful Lesson In Life - 132

Chapter 4
Many years ago two young children where promised a treat, they where to be taken to the circus, the two children had never been to a circus before they where very exited. There mother left separately because she had to take the baby to be minded to the grandmothers.
The father and his two daughters took a bus to the park where the circus was held. When they got of the bus the father instructed his two daughters not to move from the bus stop he was just crossing the road to met their mother.

The two girls held hands tightly waiting for the return of their mother and father, minutes seemed like hours to them. The eldest girl was six years old she was the decision maker, she explained to her sister who was just four years old that they must have forgotten about them, so they where to make their own way home.

Home was about five miles away, they set of on their journey.
Everywhere seemed quite deserted nobody was about in these long lonely roads. Walking along what was known as a bad, area the two girls walked hand in hand. In the distance was a man walking towards them, he was dressed in a suit, he had sharp features and dark wavy hair.
The first thoughts that went thought the eldest girls head was " nothing to be scared of he is white. " They now where level with the man, he made a grab at the two girls, the girls screamed and separated and ran either side of the man they. A observer a black man was standing on the nearby steps of a big terrace house ran down the steps and chased after the man. The two girls continued home now terrified,

They let themselves into the flat where they lived, no key was needed on those days. The two girls waited in bed until their parents arrived home, it seemed like hours. They told their parents about their adventure but they thought it was funny they didn't really believe it. Fact is though eldest child read a lot of books and likely thought of the story of Hansel and Gretal.

Years later the two sister where discussing events down memory lane, the youngest who was four at the time, also remembered the frightening event, where the black man saved us from that terrible white man. The eldest told her about the thoughts that went through her mind at that moment in time, her sister replied that's strange the same thought went through her mind also.

Both took this a a lesson in life from a very early age about judging people, we wondered how we had become conditioned in this way to think the the colour of your skin made you good or bad?

Both had been very young, neither had seen their father he was away at war for seven years, and their mother was very young and very nice person, people used to say "she didn't have a bad bone in her body."

So how does this happen?
How did these two children think one race was better than the other?
Was it because of colour skin only that was strange to them
Or did they think only people that looked the same as them where good people

Many questions can be asked but this is a true account and a Powerful Lesson in Life.
