Gizza Job

I wrote this as I am pissed off being a middle aged man out of work. Those of you old enough might remember the tag line from the epic series Boys From The Blackstuff.

Gizza job!
Gizza job!
I only want to work,
I need to have me dignity
So I no longer feel a jerk.

I once was oh so successful
An engineering boss
But all I am these days
Is one of the great unwashed!

I might be a little older than a fresh faced college grad,
But my significant experience should outshine these spotty lads?
I have served my queen and country
I have been shot at and abused
I just want a chance to show you of how I can be of use.

What's that? I am over qualified you say.
I thought that would be a good thing,
For the amount you want to pay!

I can turn my hand to anything, a chance is all I ask.
I've had enough of this dole queue and sitting on my arse!
I will sweep the roads and streets
I will empty bins, or clean bogs
For pitty sake have mercy, just Gizza job!
