Pain

A Modern Psalm

Pain, thrusting, jagged, splintering pain.
Pain in my head, in my back, in my stomach and my heart.

When will this stop?
The drugs don't work, a song so true!

Is this pain here to break me in, like a colt in God's paddock?
I am waiting lord, I am listening, I am crying out to you to release me or forever condemn my soul for my life of yesteryear.

I am tired of this suffering Lord, is this my testament in life. That I suffered but walked your path in sufference?
I want it to be so much more. I want to give the love I have for others in everything I do. I want to ease their pain. I want to help them make sense of their lives. But most of all I want to serve you.

I have served the darkness in my life for too long. When do I see the majesty of your light?

You brought me back from the mire of my life,
I worship you, and you alone.

Lord take my pain so that I may take the pain of others in your name.
