There were two things I could have done, first, stay under water for as long as possible so he thought I was drowning and would jump in after me or I went to the edge of the pool grabbed hold of him and pulled him in. I decided to do both, as I fell in I made a big splash, so I stayed under water and swam to the edge of the pool and hid under the ridge that came over the water. I waited there long enough for him to think I was in trouble and then grabbed him and yanked him in after me. He made a bigger splash than I did, because he was a very masculine guy, but he came up before I did then he swam over to me, who was by this point sitting on the stone seats that had been created in the pool. We were face to face with only a couple inches between our faces when he leant forwards to kiss me, I leant in to kiss him back and he moved away from me slightly and whispered,
'I love you!'
Before leaning back in and kissing me. Those 3 words that was it, nothing else with it, just those 3 small words and up until that moment I had never been so happy. It wasn't just love, like people say when there with someone, 'yeah, of course I love you' but it was real proper love, like in the movies when people get so hyped because they say they love them and they really mean it, when they couldn't imagine not being with you, when they hate not being able to see you for one day, when they get worried and feel upset when you look sad, when they couldn’t be happy for a day if they couldn't see your smile and cuddle you, it was that kind of love and I knew it. That was all a girl could ever want or need, somebody to love them, properly love them. Most people don’t find this person until they are at least 30, but I was 14 and had already found my person, Connor. I know for a fact I was, and still am, the luckiest girl alive.
I didn't really feel like being in the pool for long so we soon got out and went and relaxed on the sunbeds, I had my headphone in my ears so I couldn't here what he was saying and soon enough I just drifted off to sleep. The last memory I have was of Connor topping up my sun cream for me as I fell asleep so I didn't get burnt. He was so considerate…
