I looked into his eyes
Seeing naught but fire I
Reached back with ice
My defence to warn him
How weak the link between us
He shone- oh, how he shone
In face and so much in life
And when I last looked upon him
His brightness beat out the sun
But it was night when he left
And it's been night since
Stars are but the spaces he forgot
Our sun is but a star to others.
He was my hand, my heart, my hope
And still I left, a fluttering breath
Call for me a thousand times
As I did for him
And still I would not return
My eyes, as pale as clouds once were
I know because he said so
My heart, slowly steeling
I know because for him, I did so
Life would have pulled
As of a child, desiring a toy
Us away again, and so I went
No tears from these sun-glazed eyes.
