How could I of never noticed this treehouse? Sure, it was high up, and well camouflaged by the leaves, but I knew this forest more than anything in my life. Well, that just proved me wrong. My watch showed me that I had twenty minutes left- I squirmed. The treehouse I had to investigate, who knows what, or who I could find in there?
When I reached the top of the ladder, a door that was very messily carved out of wood presented itself in front of me. Should go in? Or should I knock? I did neither. Instead, I crouched down, and peeked into the only window there; Alek. He was sitting on some kind of bean bag, focusing deeply on a book and drinking what looked like tea. This I wasn't expecting. I analysed the inside of the treehouse; a table with a pile of books on top of it, a rug -that seriously needed a clean-lay on the floor, two couches lined up next to each other, a pillow, a blanket thrown messily on the floor, a picture of some sunflowers hanged on the wall, and one long, wooden shelf stood up on the corner with a bucket full of water next to it, with a towel and a mirror. Wow. This was Alek's home. But It looked like he was living alone. There was no other people in the treehouse, not even a pet. He must be so lonely- I thought, not realising soon enough that Alek had already spotted me. I tried to climb down the ladder as fast as I could, but I wasn't quick enough because Alek had already grabbed my hand, that still remained on the top space bar of the ladder. He smiled cheekily.
"Natasha... What are you doing at my house?" Alek asked, still smiling.
"Er... Nothing" I replied, guilt building in my voice.
"Ha! Nice excuse. But I'm not going to fall for that one! Now come on in, since you already came here"
"No, no I should get going"
I had only five minutes to spare on my walk, or should I say run back home. But his gorgeous eyes and mercy full smile dragged me in...
"Only for a minute" Alek said.
I climbed back up obediently.
"Come on in"
I walked in- with no hesitation. It was like some kind of miraculous force was magically pulling me towards him.
"Here, have a seat" Alek instructed me.
"Thank you" I replied politely, sitting down on one of the couches. Alek soon brought me a hot cup of tea.
"Here. It's very chilly outside, and it should warm you up" Alek said, handing me the steaming cup of hot, sweet liquid. Soon he sat down next to me, drinking his cup of tea.
"So, what brought you here?" Alek asked with curiosity.
I felt like I was being forced to the ground by a heavy rock strapped to my back.
"I...I was just taking a walk" I replied. Looking at the ground.
Alek wasn't convinced.
"You sure about that? You know you can tell me the truth, you don't have to cover anything up- I won't mind" Alek explained convincingly.
I sighed. Even if I tried to explain, it would take a long time. Plus I was running late already, and if I came back home any later, my parents would go mad. They would never forgive me after I promised this wouldn't happen again.
"I'm sorry, but I really have to go... I'm going to get a kick in the backside if I don't star heading back" I said. When really, I wanted to stay here, I wanted to get closer to Alek.
Alek changed his expression to a thinking pose.
"Tell you what, why don't you come in tomorrow?"
"I've got school"
"Well after school?"
"I'll try... But I don't guarantee I'll come"
"Okay. Just pop in any time your free"Alek said with a smile, "I just want to see you again".
I laughed, slightly blushing. "Okay".
"And... I just wanted to tell you something. You're... really pretty, and... I... think that you're really sweet..." Alek burst out, embarrassed.
I could feel my cheeks burning again, and I hid away. Daring to glance once into the tiny mirror, I saw a girl with a face as red as a tomato.
"I... I don't know what to say..." I stammered.
"Don't say anything..." Alek said.
Then his hands cupped my face, and he gently stroked my cheek like he did the first time we met. But I interrupted him before it was too late, before it was too late and we would lose control again.
"I've got to leave..." I said.
"Okay" Alek replied. Taking his hands away, his own cheeks burning.
I then carefully climbed back down to the ground, and with one last look I waved at Alek. And the last thing I heard was his voice shouting in the background: "Sorry! I just couldn't help it!".
