A princess lies on purple petals and silk,
Chestnut hair so dark, pale skin like milk,
A silent beauty at rest, hidden so deep,
Yet in her sleep, crystal tears do weep,
The great trees are thick, protective limbs,
While the wind whistles through, singing hymns,
A sadness locked away, a heart in a cave,
To night's darkness, this princess is a slave,
Alone behind the forest walls, out of sight,
Left in some corner of mind to dream of light,
Many Princes have failed before to reach her,
Even climbing the walls, felling each tall fir,
Unconscious tears of longing fall into a pool,
Freezing under the moonlight, silvery and cool,
Her slumbering, beautiful presence such a lure,
But for this cold curse, there is no cure.
