Twisting and curling -
A vine constricting,
Snaking around a trunk, gripping the bark,
Growing in light, hiding in dark,
Turning - spreading - stealing life,
A strangling slow death,
Its host wishing for a knife -
Up to the treasure of the sun,
A struggle soon to be won.
