I often marvel at the world's light,
And how so often it is blindingly bright,
I try and try with all my might,
Sending up on the longest string, tied tight,
My humble, miraculous kite,
I watch how it takes flight,
Another colourful, glittering sight,
I can almost see her, the little Sprite,
That's holding it up in the sky so tight,
A kite of blue, green, red and white,
Just look at how merrily she dances in the light,
Flying her simply fills me with delight,
Please admire her, it's only polite.

I don't think kids fly kites enough anymore. There was something magical about being tethered to this frail thing soaring way up into the sky. It felt like flying, in a way motorized toys never can.
