When all the house is empty,
And the family have gone out,
There is a little old clock,
He starts to tick and pout,
For when everyone is there,
So very quiet is his shy tick,
He gets so very angry,
He just wants to give 'em a kick!
This little old clock works hard,
His tick is just the right tone,
But it only seems to work,
When nobody is home,
"I think I know what to try,"
The little clock said one day,
"I shall close my eyes for a time,
And know not what comes my way."
As if by magic he felt alone,
Then his tick-tock really ticked,
The family looked round in surprise,
But no longer in danger of being clock-kicked.
